Reiki, the natural system of Healing

At the turn of the 20th century there was a Japanese Buddhist, dr. Mikao Usui, who was more than average interested in all great world religions. He used to attend to and organise Sunday meetings with theology students.

It was during one of these meetings that a student asked him the question if he believed everything that was written in de Bible.

This question was the start of a long personal quest, which led him through several countries, e.g. China and Tibet. He was searching for ancient documents, written in Sanskrit, that allegedly would reveal the key to the mystery.  Apparently he suceeded, in view of the fact that Reiki is spread all over the world nowadays.

Reiki is an ancient method of natural healing, which got lost during time. Thanks to the effort of dr. Usui it has been rediscovered for the benefit of all living things.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a pleasant, simple, and safe complementary therapy for stress  relief, relaxation, as well as to promote general healing.

Reiki is not based on hand movements or pressure, and  does not require the removal of any of the client's clothing.

It involves  nothing more than the placing of the practitioner's hands upon the client in a  quiet, gentle and passive manner.

During a treatment, the practitioner's hand positioning  changes frequently, to cover the whole body.

The overall duration of a Reiki treatment is between 30 minutes to one hour.

How to imagine Reiki

We can’t see radio waves, but if we turn on a radio we can hear them.

We can’t  see the satellite transmission to your TV, but when we turn on the TV we can see  the picture. All energy works the same way.

We need a transmitter and a receiver  in order to sense how the energy is working.

Reiki teaches how to get connected to this cosmic energy by means of attunements performed by a master/teacher.

Everyone can benefit from the energy that's all around us and feeds all live on earth. Just 'plug in'.

Reiki brings healing

The benefits of learning Reiki are many. It's a hands on healing method that transforms and heals body and mind.

Reiki can be applied to any part of the body, injury or illness. It also has a calming effect on the mind and emotions. Reiki has immediate benefits for calming stress and tension.

By bestowing the healing energy we restore a state of balance and renewed vitality. This healing energy activates the recipients own healing process, giving the body, and in particular the energy body, the ability to heal itself by receiving a natural boost of life force energy.

Reiki is used for healing others, but it can be effectively used for self healing. The most common form of Reiki self-healing is the direct application of ones' hands on oneself and allowing Reiki energy to flow to the areas where the hands are in contact.

Animals and children love Reiki and will often instinctively recognise Reiki practitioners. Reiki is such a calming and soothing energy, a short treatment disguised as stroking or pats can be readily applied in most situations. My cats used to fight over the privilege of lying down on my lap.

I do hope you have an idea of what Reiki is and what it can do. You are most welcome, for a talk, a treatment or to get more information.

About me

I got so intrigued by all the stories I heard about Reiki and the people I met that worked with Reiki that I decided to take the First Degree Reiki course, just out of curiosity.

That was in December 1994. In October 1995 I took the Second Degree Reiki course and that was it.....I thought. I enjoyed Reiki and practised it on myself, my friends and family and our cats. But in 2001 there was this inner voice and calling of becoming a Reiki teacher. So I started a 15 months apprenticeship which I completed in May 2002.

I am trained in the Usui System of Reiki Healing – Usui Shiki Ryoho.    I teach and practise the Usui System of Reiki by honouring and maintaining the system which is passed on through the direct spiritual lineage of Mikao Usui, Chujiro Hayashi, Hawayo Takata, Wanja Twan, Inger Droog, Werner Mulder, Mies van Hoorn, Gerard Visker to Annemiek van de Kamp.

I work from home as Reiki practitioner/ teacher and do volunteer work at Mercy Palliative Care to provide Reiki treatments to palliative patients.

Certificate IV in Reiki treatment Practice

I am very proud to be the first student in Australia that undertook and finished the new nationally accredited qualification, 10346NAT Cert IV in Reiki Treatment Practice.

Now that I have credible accreditation I feel that I have equivalent status alongside practitioners in other accepted modalities. Hopefully this opens doors and it will stimulate others practitioners to undertake this course as well.

"Reiki brings me luck, tranquillity and trust. In difficult and troubled times it restores my balance, it helps me determine my purposes in life. It has changed my inner vision and therefore my view on life. My life is caught in a flow and I decided to go with the stream. Reiki showed me the way and took me on a great journey through life".
